Dr. Alexis Michael BAZZANELLA graduated in Chemistry in 1994 and finalized his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Technical University Darmstadt in 1998.

Following three years of R&D as group head “micro analytics and microfludics” in a drug discovery company in Hamburg he joined DECHEMA in 2001. As head of “Research & Project Coordination” he is responsible for the coordination of national and European projects and public research funding programmes in the areas of sustainable chemistry and chemical process technologies.

His fields of expertise include energy and resource efficient chemical processes, chemical CO2 conversion and technologies for process intensification including microreaction engineering, continuous flow processes and catalysis.

He is member of the management team of the European Technology Platform Sustainable Chemistry (SusChem) and secretary of the national SusChem platform

He is author of various discussion papers and studies, e.g. on utilization of CO2, and global energy and GHG saving potentials in the chemical industry.
