Dr. Simon Verleger
Project Coordinator, Division Gas Technology, DVGW Research Center at Engler-Bunte Institute, KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

"Power to Gas is an important flexibility, transport and a storage element for an integrated energy system and enables the utilization of electricity from renewable energy sources in all energy sectors. To exploit the potential of PtG solutions the political and regulatory framework has to be adapted considerably."

Vita:

Dr. Simon Verleger studied physics in Konstanz and Tel Aviv. He obtained his doctoral degree in 2012 from Konstanz University in the field of molecular electronics and microfluidics, before joining the project management agency VDI/VDE-IT in Berlin. There he supervised research projects on behalf of the BMBF (Federal Ministry for Education and Research) with regard to electric mobility, and supported the BMBF with professional advice. In 2015, Dr. Verleger joined the research centre of the DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) at the Engler-Bunte institute at KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). His main role is currently the coordination of the Horizon 2020 project STORE&GO with 27 partners. This project investigates power-to-gas both on the technological side (three demo sites) and with regard to techno-economical, acceptance and regulatory issues.
