How to reach Hamburg

By train: Hamburg is easily accessible by train and has three train stations in addition to the main train station, those being Altona, Dammtor and Harburg. Most InterCity (IC) and InterCity Express (ICE) trains stop at all four stations. The train station to University of Hamburg is "Dammtor".
By car: If you travel by car, Hamburg is very easy to reach. Lying centred between the motorways A7 (North/South tangent), A1 (Bremen-Lübeck), A24 (Berlin-Hamburg) and the A23 (from Heide).
By plane: The Hamburg Airport is only 8 km outside town (www.ham.airport.de).

Transport in Hamburg:

Taxi: There are taxi ranks in front of all the terminals. A ride from the airport to the city centre takes about 30 minutes and costs approx. Euro 25.
HVV (Hamburg public Transport) Hamburg Airport has a direct rail connection to the city centre by suburban rail line S1, which will take you to or from the main station, Hauptbahnhof, or Jungfernstieg [city centre].
