Authors: H. Knapp, R. Döring, L. Oellrich, U. Plöcker, J.M. Prausnitz, R. Langhorst, S. Zeck

The volume contains information about vapour-liquid equilibria of mixtures consisting of two or more of the following components: He 3 , He, H 2 , HD, Ne, N 2 , CO, Ar, O 2 , CH 4 , Kr, NO, Xe, C 2 H 4 , N 2 O, C 2 H 6 , HCl, C 2 H 2 , CO 2 , H 2 S, C 3 H 6 , C 3 H 8, CI 2 , NH 3 , i-C 4 H 10 , S0 2 , i-C 4 H 8 , 1-C 4 H 8 , n-C 4 H 10 , i-C 5 H 12 , 1-C 5 H 10 , n-C 5 H 12 , NO 2 , c-C 5 H 10 , 1-C 6 H 12 ,n-C 6 H 14 ,C 6 H 6 , c-C 6 H 12 , c-C 6 H 10 , 1-C 7 H 14 , n-C 7 H 14 , n-C 7 H 16 , H 2 O, D 2 O, i-C 8 H 18 , n-C 8 H 18 , n-C 9 H 2 O, n-C 10 H 22 .

Part 1 is subdivided into four main sections: An introduction to the methods for the calculation of phase equilibria using equations of state and mixing rules, a comprehensive literature survey of experimental and theoretical work including a brief summery of the contents of each publication, a data collection listing experimental phase equilibrium data in SI units and p-x, y and K-p diagrams for more than 200 binaries showing experimental points and calculated isotherms and thus indicating deviations in detail, and review of results obtained with four generalized equations of state; two of the virial and two of the van der Waals type:

a) LKP: the Lee-Kesler equation extended for mixtures by Plöcker, Knapp and Prausnitz,

b) BWRS: the Benedict-Webb-Rubin equation modified and generalized by Starling,

c) RKS: the Redlich-Kwong equation modified by Soave,

d) PR: the equation suggested by Peng and Robinson.

Binary parameters fitted to the complete set of experimental data are listed as well as average deviations between experimental and calculated pressures and vapour compositions.

Parts 2, 3 and 4 report data for ternary systems. The experimental compositions of the liquid and the gas phases are given together with K-values and the deviations in fugacity, total pressure and gas phase composition between the expermental data and the values calculated from the equation of state (LKP, RKS or PR) which gives the best fit.
