Institut für Wärme und Oeltechnik e. V. (IWO)

The Institut für Wärme und Oeltechnik (Institute for Heating and Oil Technology) is an institution within the German oil industry. Its members include all heating oil producers as well as leading mineral oil importers and wholesalers. Various manufacturers of boilers and heating components support IWO’s activities. IWO is committed to ensure fair political parameters in the energy transition: A transformation path which includes a broad mix of technologies and energy sources is cheaper and more robust compared to electricity-based only solutions. The future energy mix should include liquid fuels which will become more renewable in the future. These low carbon fuels are going to be indispensable for a greenhouse gas neutral future energy supply. Being a competence center for efficient heating technologies and the development of low carbon liquid fuels, IWO is active in four strategic fields: Policy advising, research, technology and communication. IWO’s objective is to develop the advantages of liquid fuels in the long term.
