During the Closing Session of ACHEMA 2006 on 20 May 2006 in Frankfurt am Main tribute will be paid to two outstanding personalities in recognition of their exemplary contributions towards promoting and advancing the development of ACHEMA and its increasing internationalization and also, in their capacity as chairmen of the ACHEMA Committee and members of the DECHEMA Board, actively representing the interests of the exhibitors:
Dipl.-Betriebswirt Hans-Peter Ilgner, Frankfurt am Main
Dr. sc. techn. Arthur Ruf, Bronschhofen /Switzerland
Hans-Peter Ilgner was born in 1947. After studying chemistry and business administration, he commenced his career in process engineering at Uhde GmbH and from 1972 at Hoechst AG, where he held various positions in company auditing, controlling and strategic company development. From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the Management Board of Uhde GmbH and Krupp Koppers GmbH. Three years ago he founded ChemAdvice GmbH, a consulting company focusing on the chemical industry and chemical plant engineering. He was a member of the Board of DECHEMA from 1998 to 2003. ACHEMA 2000 was organized under his chairmanship of the ACHEMA Committee.
Arthur Ruf was born in 1948. He studied process engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, where he obtained his doctorate in the year 1981. Until 1989 he was “Oberassistent” at the Institut für Verfahrens- und Kältetechnik, after which he took on his first post in industry at Bühler AG in Uzwil as head of research of the product line materials handling and process engineering, later becoming head of research of the corporate Non-Food Division, of which he became general manager in 1996. From 1997 to 2002 he was a member of the Management Board of Bühler AG. He then went on to found 4p&partners for technology consulting. Since 1999 he has been President of the Commission for Foreign Relations of SATW Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, which has close ties to DECHEMA. He was a member of the Board of DECHEMA from 2001 to 2005. ACHEMA 2003 was organized under his chairmanship of the ACHEMA Committee.
