Positive Signals for ACHEMA 2009

World technology summit of the process industry

Around 4,000 exhibitors from all continents, 180,000 visitors from 100 different countries and 30,000 executives from the top two levels of management will meet at ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt am Main from 11 to 15 May. The process industry – the chemical industry, biotechnology, the pharmaceutical and food industries, environmental technology, materials technology and energy production – constantly faces new challenges; they can only be overcome by focussed interaction between the various disciplines. These synergies explain why many companies seize this opportunity to present their innovations and technological trends at ACHEMA.
New technologies secure the future of the branch
ACHEMA is the summit of the process industry, the “Who’s Who” in research and industry. It represents the major international industry gathering, presenting an impressive, comprehensive array of technologies. Moreover the two integral general topics of ACHEMA, environmental protection and biotechnological equipment, demonstrate the full range of technical solutions.

ACHEMA Congress - experts, executives and end-users face-to-face

The Congress programme encompasses 900 lectures and, side by side with the exhibition, represents a second cornerstone of ACHEMA. Numerous special and guest events, panel discussions, expert round tables and plenary lectures reflect the infinite variety of process technology. Parallel to the exhibition the ACHEMA Congress spans the complete spectrum of process engineering and complements the classical aspects with a number of special, highly topical lecture series.

Special Show: innovative concepts for the use of resources

For years the ACHEMA Special Show has pinpointed emerging sectors of the process industry on the threshold of industrial breakthrough. Such is the case with “Chemistry and Biotechnology for Renewable Resources and Energy“, the theme of the ACHEMA 2009 show, which addresses the increasing importance of non-fossil resources for the production of energy and materials. Besides the many facets of industrial (‘white’) biotechnology, the Special Show will zero in on biorefineries, plants for the production of biofuels and biogas, and bioplastics and composites. Photovoltaics, solar-chemical processes and, last but not least, thermal and chemical processes will round off this comprehensive show.

ACHEMA – International Exhibition-Congress for Chemical Engineering, Environmental Protection and Biotechnology has taken place every three years in Frankfurt am Main in a three-year cycle since 1920. Some 4,000 exhibitors and 180,000 visitors from all over the world make the most of this leading international event for the equipment suppliers to the process industry to exchange ideas and experience and for networking.
DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology e.V. is the organizer of ACHEMA. Founded in 1926, DECHEMA is a non-profit scientific society based in Frankfurt am Main. It has over 5,000 members representing scientists, engineers, companies, organisations and institutes. DECHEMA’s mission is to actively advance the development of chemical technologies and processes and to promote the transfer of new findings from research and development to industrial applications.
