Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Uwe T. Bornscheuer of the University of Greifswald has been awarded the Otto Roelen Medal 2026.
With this award, DECHEMA and the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) recognize his outstanding contributions to the identification of enzymes from various classes combined with protein engineering, enabling innovative applications in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
The Otto Roelen Medal, endowed with €5,000 and sponsored by OXEA GmbH, honors exceptional achievements in catalysis. The award ceremony took place on 19 March 2026 during the 59. Jahrestreffens Deutscher Katalytiker ( held from 18–20 March 2026) in Weimar.
