DECHEMA Chemistry Data Series, Volume IV

Recommended Data of Selected Compounds and Binary Mixtures

Authors : K. Stephan, H. Hildwein

The authors present their results of an evaluation of the literature data on key properties of 14 binary test mixtures for distillation columns and their pure components. The mixtures evaluated are: n-butane/i-butane, cyclohexane/n-heptane, n-heptane/methylclohexane, trans-decalin/cis-decalin, methylcyclohexane/toluene, toluene/ethylbenzene, ethylbenzene/p-xylene, 1-methylnaphthalene/2-methylnaphthalene, 1,2-dichloroethane/cyclohexane, chlorobenzene/ethylbenzene, methanol/ethanol, 1,2-ethane-diol/1,2-propanediol and 2-propanol/water. The properties given for the 20 pure compounds are: critical data, normal boiling point, triple point, refractive index, toxicity information, explosion limits in air, flash point, ignition temperature, and the temperature dependent properties: specific volume, isobaric heat capacity, thermal conductivity, viscosity and surface tension of the saturated liquid, specific volume of the saturated vapour, isobaric heat capacity of the ideal gas, vapour pressure and heat of vaporization. For the binary mixtures, the authors present vapour-liquid equilibrium data, volumes and heats of mixing, liquid viscosity, thermal conductivity, surface tension and refractive index data. The temperature and/or composition dependent properties are given as correlations, tables and diagrams. Maximum and mean deviations between the literature data and the smoothed data obtained via the correlations are reported.
