The powerful tools of synthetic biology - synthesis of long strands of DNA, new genetic tools for genome engineering, synthetic enzyme cascades - have recently expanded the potential of metabolic engineering and allow for the construction of novel biosynthetic pathways. These advances, demonstrated by examples from secondary metabolism, are the topic of the symposion on „Synthetic Pathways and Synthetic Enzyme Cascades“.
The meeting is jointly organised by the DECHEMA working groups ‘Systems and Synthetic Biology’ and ‘Small-molecule, biologically active natural products’.
