Otto Roelen Medal, Jochen Block Prize and Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner Doctoral Prize
We are excited to announce that the nomination phase for the 2026 catalysis prizes is now open. You can submit nomination for the Otto Roelen Medal, the Jochen Block Prize and the newly established Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner Doctoral Prize. The awards are endowed with 5.000, 3.000 and 1.000 Euros respectively and recognise outstanding scientists in the field of catalysis.
The prizes will be presented at the 59. Jahrestreffen Deutscher Katalytiker, taking place in Weimar in March 2026.
Nominations for the 2026 catalysis awards can be submitted until September 14th, 2025. Please note that self-nominations are not permitted.
Otto Roelen Medal
The Otto Roelen Medal will be awarded for the 16th time in 2026. This award recognizes outstanding scientific achievements, particularly in application-oriented catalysis research. The internationally advertised prize is endowed with €5,000 and is sponsored by OXEA.

Jochen Block Prize
The Jochen Block Prize, awarded by the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS), is designed to promote young scientists. This annual prize, worth €3,000, is sponsored by Clariant.

Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner Doctoral Prize
The newly established Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner Doctoral Prize of the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) will be presented for the first time in 2026 at the 59th Jahrestreffen Deutscher Katalytiker. This prize honors outstanding doctoral research in the field of catalysis conducted at German universities or research institutions. The award is endowed with €1,000 and is sponsored by Heraeus.
