Interdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Technologies
The DECHEMA Research Institute (DECHEMA-Forschungsinstitut, DFI) complements the scientific landscape of Germany with its specific expertise and interdisciplinarity. At the institute, engineers, chemists, materials scientists, technicians, energy experts, and specialists are working together on future-oriented research tasks. DFI unites its core capabilities, which have been developed over several decades, in eight research teams within two divisions.

The non-profit civil law foundation DECHEMA-Forschungsinstitut was founded on 1. March 2012 by a group of industrial and private founders. It incorporated the Karl Winnacker Institute of DECHEMA e.V., which had been established in 1961.
