The 5th BIOTECH Conference is a continuation of the well-known conference series held at ZHAW in Wädenswil until 2019. Now, the conference will succeed in a new venue in Freiburg / Breisgau (Germany) between 16th and 18th June 2025.
As in previous years, we are aiming to stimulate interactions/collaborations between academia and industry in the field of single-use technologies for bio-based applications.
This time, focus areas of the conference will be:
- bioprocess development and manufacture with single-use technology for biotherapeutics, cell- and gene therapeutics and cellular agricultural products
- process analytical technologies for single-use devices
- device features and facility design
- materials and sustainability assessments
Aside of novel trends in established applications, we look also forward for contributions from fields, in which single-use technology as option is just evolving.

So far, more than 200 participants, evenly distributed among suppliers, applicants and from academia have joined each of the previous BIOTECH conferences. Thus, the conferences served as a unique platform for knowledge exchange, supported by the broad company and academic network of the working group.

How to become a DECHEMA Member?
The registration fee includes a conference ticket, a book of abstracts (PDF), a digital list of participants as well as food & beverages during all coffee and lunch breaks - the conference dinner is also included.

Registration is possible up to the beginning of the conference. You will receive an e-mail with a booking confirmation as well as hyperlinks to download your invoice and payment confirmation as PDF files.
Payment of participation fees is by credit card (Master-Card, Visa, Amex or Diners) or direct debit.
Cancellations will only be accepted in written form (i.e. by post or e-mail).
In case of no-show or cancellation of participation, the full participation fee must be paid. Details on cancellation deadlines and fees can be found in the conference terms and conditions.

Please prepare a 1-page abstract (incl. figures, max. size 1 MB). The abstract should explicitly mention objectives, new results and conclusions or significance of the work.
The selection of the contributions will be based on the review of the abstracts by the scientific committee. Accepted abstracts will be published for all conference participants in a book of abstracts (PDF file).
The congress language is English.

The Max Buchner Research Foundation awards travel grants to young scientists for the presentation of scientific and technical research work at scientific forums, congresses, symposia, conferences and other specialist events in the fields of chemical engineering, process engineering, biotechnology and related research areas.
The deadline for "Max Buchner Research Foundation Travel Grant" applications is 15 March 2025.

The official language of the conference is English. Simultaneous translation will be not available.
A brief CV questionary enables the appropriate chair person to introduce the speakers to the audience. Therefore speakers are asked to use the available form on the sharepoint and to save the individual form there: CV_Speakers . Please do so until 30 April 2025.
Recommendation: Presentation format is 16:9.
A notebook and a wireless presenter will be provided. Please bring your presentation slides as PowerPoint or PDF-File on a USB stick. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to bring your own laptop computer as a backup.
In case that you need internet /special software for your presentation or if you have videos included into your file, please notify us in advance.

Strict timekeeping will be essential for the smooth running of the conference.
As a major guideline it is proposed to make the poster intelligible in itself, even in the absence of the author. It is suggested to divide the content of each poster into introduction, results and conclusion, with a summary listing the pertinent results and conclusion.
The poster should be legible from a distance of 2-3 meters. Standard size for posters is 0.85 x 1.2 m (DIN A0 German Standard) vertically oriented. Therefore, please find the following specifications:

The Max Buchner Research Foundation awards travel grants to young scientists for the presentation of scientific and technical research work at scientific forums, congresses, symposia, conferences and other specialist events in the fields of chemical engineering, process engineering, biotechnology and related research areas.
Researchers at universities and non-university research institutions who present a lecture or poster can apply for a travel grant.
Applications are assessed and approved on a quarterly basis. The deadline for "Max Buchner Research Foundation Travel Grant" applications is 15 March 2025.
