Professor Jens Weitkamp (5.6.1942 - 25.8.2019) was a pioneer in the field of zeolite catalysis, especially for refinery applications such as hydrocracking, isomerisation, alkylation, and, most recently, selective ring opening of polynuclear aromatics. With regard to the latter topic he introduced a novel class of high-performance ring-opening catalysts, so-called HYPEROCs. Jens Weitkamp loved and followed Pasteur`s words “There is no fundamental research, there is no applied research, there is only good research”.
The colloquium will take place in honour of Professor Weitkamp. The programme covers both fundamental research and industrial application of zeolite catalysis and provides a glimpse into the future.
Obituary Professor Dr.-Ing. Jens Weitkamp.
We are concerned about the health of our symposium participants and staff. According to the public authorities, at present there is no danger involved in attending events in Germany. Current information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Health via the following link: https://www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de/coronavirus.html (in German).
DECHEMA is in contact with the health authorities and will implement their recommendations and orders immediately. In consultation with the respective event location, cleaning measures for highly frequented areas (door handles, handrails etc.) will be intensified. In addition, dispensers with disinfectants will be provided in lavatories.
Furthermore, our staff will provide disinfectant wipes, which you can ask for at the symposium reception desk. They will also have information about doctors and medical contact points in case of suspected cases.
DECHEMA is closely following the developments. Should the situation change and further recommendations be made by the authorities, we will react promptly.
