Zevenwacht Wine Estate, Langverwacht Road, Kuilsriver Cape Town, South Africa

Attend the German South African Symposium on Power-to-X

From March 26 to 27, 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa, examine Power-to-X technologies with a focus on green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as methanol, ammonia, and synthetic fuels.

These products, produced from renewable energy, support reductions in greenhouse gas emissions for applications difficult to electrify. The symposium will gather participants from academia and industry in South Africa and Germany, including representatives from the organizing
DECHEMA – German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Helmholtz-Program Materials and Technologies for the Energy Transition (MTET), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Cape Town (UCT). It features invited lectures, poster sessions, and workshops to address the value chain of international Power-to-X projects in the global energy transition.
The program provides a comprehensive view of synfuels, covering technological, societal, and geopolitical aspects. It includes Just Transition as a theme and combines local and international perspectives, considering South Africa as an exporter and Germany as an importer, with additional emphasis on applications in South Africa.
The symposium is planned as a side event to the Syngas Convention in Cape Town; attending both events is encouraged.

A get-together occurs on the evening of March 25.
