Apply now for Catalysis awards

Until the 17th September 2021 catalysts can apply for the Jochen Block Prize and the Otto Roelen Medal. Both prizes aiming at scientists working in the field of catalysis and are endowed with a prize money of 3,000 and 5,000 Euro respectively. The prizes will be awarded in a public ceremony at the Annual Meeting of German Catalysis Researchers in March 2022 in Weimar/Germany.

Jochen Block Prize of the German Society for Catalysis

The Jochen Block Prize is awarded for research and development by young scientists who have not yet been appointed to a full chair and who have contributed to the field of catalysis in a special way through fundamental and original research. In accordance with its purpose, the scientists should generally not be older than 40 years. The prize is endowed with 3,000 euros.

The Jochen Block Prize has been awarded 19 times to date. The award is named after the founding member and first chairman of DECHEMA's Working Group for Catalysis.

Proposals for the Jochen Block 2021 can be submitted until 17th September 2021.

Otto Roelen Medal

DECHEMA and the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) invite researchers and scientists to propose international candidates who have made significant contributions in thei field of catalysis research, especially with regard to application-oriented research. The Otto Roelen Medal is endowed with 5,000 Euro and sponsored by the OQ Services GmbH.

Nominations will be evaluated by the Expert Committee of the Otto Roelen Medal. Self-nominations are not accepted.

The Otto Roelen Medal was initiated in 1997 by Hoechst AG and is named after the discoverer of hydroformulation. Originally limited to the field of homogeneous catalysis, the prize is now open to international researchers in the whole field of catalysis.

Proposals for nominations should be submitted before 17th September 2021.
