The SEABRINE brine treatment technology has originally been developed for the treatment of polluted waste brines from Epichlorohydrin and epoxy resin production with the aim to recover the purified brine and reuse it in C/A electrolysis processes as feedstock. In general, the contaminated brine contains salt in high concentrations and organic contaminations (hydrocarbons, oxygen, nitrogen and chlorinated compounds) up to a TOC of 10.000 ppm. The SEABRINE technology is primarily advantageous, when very low TOC values as low as 7 ppm are required in the purified brines. Purified sodium chloride brines are recycled to C/A electrolysis where hydrogen chloride and sodium hydroxide are recovered. |
