The Annual Meeting on Reaction Engineering is an excellent platform for scientific exchange between experts as well as networking between academic groups and industry. We invited scientists from industry, research institutions and universities to share and discuss their work and learn about the latest developments. The Annual Meeting is jointly organized by the DECHEMA/VDI Subject Divisions Chemical Reaction Engineering, Electrochemical Processes and Kinetics and Reaction Mechanisms. This meeting provides an exceptional opportunity for these communities to present and discuss current research on relevant topics and to identify synergies.
The conference in 2026 was a resounding success, bringing together 242 participants from 12 different countries. The vibrant scientific program featured 4 insightful plenary lectures, 33 engaging scientific talks, and an impressive display of 129 posters. We are also grateful for the support of our 8 sponsors and exhibitors who contributed significantly to the event's success.
A special thank you goes to our plenary speakers, Prof. Dr. Annemie Bogaerts, Prof. Dr. Burkhard König, Prof. Dr. Elena Savinova, and Dr.-Ing. Lisa Völkl, for their inspiring presentations. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee and the members of NaWuReT, whose dedication and passion made this event truly special.

An NFDI4Cat Workshop on Metadata, ELN, and Digital Workflows in Reaction Engineering
The NFDI4Cat initiative drives the digital transformation of reaction engineering by connecting metadata, electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), and process simulation through semantic workflows. As part of the Annual Meeting on Reaction Engineering 2026, this interactive workshop invites researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to explore how semantic data management can bridge the gap between experimental data and digital process modeling.
Participants will learn how standardized metadata, ontologies, and interoperable tools can support the creation of transparent, reproducible, and simulation-ready workflows – from experiment planning to model execution. The session will showcase practical examples of how the NFDI4Cat ecosystem enables a seamless data flow across the research lifecycle, empowering users to make their data FAIR and simulation-ready.

Dr.-Ing. Marion Börnhorst received the Hanns Hofmann Prize 2026 for her outstanding achievements in the field
of multiscale modelling of catalytic multiphase reactors. The prize is endowed with 1000 €.
Marion Börnhorst is an outstanding young scientist in the field of chemical reaction engineering. She is distinguished by her excellent research and teaching, impressive academic achievements, including a doctorate summa cum laude, and the successful acquisition of significant third-party fundings. As the leader of her own research group at TU Dortmund, she is shaping future-oriented topics such as emission control and chemical energy storage. Her research makes a significant contribution to developing key technologies not only for the energy transition, but also for the raw materials transition in the chemical industry. Her strong commitment to the scientific community and her role as a model for balancing a scientific career and family life complete her profile, making her the ideal recipient of the Hanns Hofmann Award 2026.
For his excellent oral presentation the Young Talent Award was awarded to Hannes Stagge, Ulm University, for his lecture on the topic "Bayesian Machine Learning in Reaction Engineering – Quantifying Uncertainty in Chemical Kinetics". The prize is endowed with a prize money of €500 and the reimbursement of the conference fee.

If you are unable to present your lecture/poster for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible.
The official language of the conference is English. Simultaneous translation will be not available.
Each lecture is planned for a duration of 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. Strict timekeeping will be essential for the smooth running of the conference. We suggest to use a minimum font size of 24 pt for your presentation slides.
The best oral presentation will be awarded with the Young Talent Award.
A brief CV questionary enables the appropriate chairperson to introduce all lecturers to the audience. Therefore, lecturers are asked to download the CV form and save it in a shared file under your respective session until 10 April 2026 at the latest.
The ideal format for the presentation is 16:9. A notebook and a wireless presenter will be provided. Please bring your presentation slides as PowerPoint or PDF-File on a USB stick. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to bring your own laptop computer as a backup.
In case that you need internet/a special software for your presentation or if you have videos included into your file, please notify us in advance.
A poster board will be available for each poster, with the poster number attached.
The posters will be shown throughout the whole conference. Please hang up your poster at the beginning of the meeting on 26 May.
As a major guideline it is proposed to make the poster intelligible in itself, even in the absence of the author. It is suggested to divide the content of each poster into introduction, results and conclusion, with a summary listing the pertinent results and conclusion.
Standard size for posters is 0.85 x 1.2 m (DIN A0 German Standard) vertically oriented.
To ensure that the text is still legible from a distance of 2-3 m, the main text should be written in font size 25-30 pt, marginal information can be slightly smaller with font size 20-25 pt. The title of a poster must be readable from a distance of approx. 5 m (100-200 pt). Subtitles and headings in the text can be written in 50 pt font.
The best posters will be awarded with a poster prize.
