Nominate your candidates for the Alwin Mittasch Prize!
The German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) invites nominations for the Alwin Mittasch Award, presented in recognition of outstanding contributions by international scientists in the field of catalysis.
The award honours established international researchers who have made significant contributions to advancing the scientific foundations of catalysis and to its exemplary industrial application.
The Alwin Mittasch Preis is endowed with €10,000 and is generously sponsored by BASF SE. All nominations will be assessed by the Alwin Mittasch Expert Committee.
The award will be presented at the 60. Jahrestreffen Deutscher Katalytiker in March 2027, in Weimar, Germany.
Nominations for the Alwin Mittasch Prize can be submitted until 13 September 2026 at the latest. Please note that self-nominations will not be accepted.

All nominations should be submitted in German or English together with a statement explaining the reasons for the nomination and the following documents:
- Letter of recommendation
- Curriculum Vitae
- List of publications and patents
- Publications from internationally recognised, peer-reviewed scientific journals (strongly recommended)
- Further letters of recommendation from industry experts (strongly recommended)
The Alwin Mittasch Award was established by BASF in 1990, originally as the Alwin Mittasch Medal. It is named after Alwin Mittasch, a pioneer in catalysis research and developer of the first catalyst for ammonia synthesis.
