After a long dry spell of abstinence from face-to-face meetings, the 14th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering will take place in Potsdam in September 2023 in presence.
Usually held every three years, this international workshop is a prestigious platform for experts to share their latest findings, as well as a knowledge pool for young professionals who want to gain a broad foundation or present their own work.
Rising energy costs and the need to base polymer production in future more and more on sustainable raw material feeds impose significant challenges to the polymer industry. Polymer reaction engineering can contribute significantly to match these challenges. The focus of the event is on the design and intensification of polymer production processes, conditioned by both customer requirements and new technological developments such as new catalysts, process analytical technologies and novel modeling and simulation tools. In addition, there are current topics in the synthesis of plastics based on monomers from sustainable sources, polymer recycling and possible recycling of polymeric materials to conserve resources.
Polymer reaction engineering (PRE) is a highly dynamic scientific field with multiple interfaces to different disciplines in science, industry, and business. The workshop aims to stimulate the development of polymer reaction engineering concepts to meet the requirements and expectations of industry and society in terms of improving energy, material, and investment efficiency in polymer production. Existing polymerization processes must be continuously improved and new processes developed to meet customer requirements. The almost universal variety of applications not only, but especially in important future fields such as such as indispensable materials for the energy transition, electrification of mobility and light weight construction either to reduce energy consumption or enable complex designs, as well as for modern manufacturing techniques require continuous progress in product and process design. Developing new catalysts and monomers, studying their kinetic and thermodynamic behavior are part of the scientific basis that must be translated then into process technologies that enable economical, robust, and safe production.
Among many other developments and implications, progress in polymer reaction engineering continues to be driven by increasing precision in polymer tailoring. The workshop also benefits significantly from process analytics and rapidly increasing capabilities in modeling and simulation (and thus control) of processes in the general field of reaction engineering.
The scientific committee, DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology together with TU Darmstadt and Fraunhofer institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP cordially invite you to participate in the 14th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering in Potsdam/Germany.

Deadline for a paper submission is 24 March 2023.
You can submit papers for the following topics:
Please prepare an abstract with 1-2 pages (incl. figures, max. size 1 MB, max. 2 pages). The abstract should explicitly mention objectives, new results and conclusions or significanceof the work.
The selection of the contributions will be based on the review of the abstracts by the scientific committee.
Accepted abstracts will be published for all conference participants in a book of abstracts (PDF file).
The congress language is English.
Please note: Registration fee cannot be waived for authors.
With effect from 1st January 2023 we adjust our fees. In addition to general price increases, we are thus also taking into account the increased costs for energy and services. Due to the price adjustment we can offer you our events in the usual high quality.

The DECHEMA terms and conditions for conferences apply. Please note that the following information are exerpts and supplements to the general terms and conditions.
Registration is possible up to the beginning of the conference (subject to capacity in the lecture rooms). You will receive an email with a booking confirmation as well as hyperlinks to download your invoice and payment confirmation as PDF files.
The registration fees include a conference ticket, a book of abstracts (PDF) for download, a list of participants as well as food & beverages during all coffee and lunch breaks. The programme brochure will be available online.
Cancellations are only accepted in writing (i.e. by fax, surface mail or e-mail). Please find details about cancellation dates and fees in the general terms and conditions. In case of no-show the conference fees won't be refunded and fees not yet paid still have to be paid.
Dear lecture and poster authors, please note: Registration fee cannot be waived for authors. Please use the online registration.
If you are unable to present your lecture for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible.
The official language of the conference is English. Simultaneous translation will be not available.
A brief CV questionary enables the appropriate chair person to introduce all lecturers to the audience. Therefore lecturers are asked to download the CV form and to return it to the conference office until 15 August 2022.
The ideal format for the presentation is 16:9. A notebook (MS Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3) and a wireless presenter will be provided. Please bring your presentation slides as PowerPoint or PDF-File on a USB stick. Nevertheless we kindly ask you to bring your own laptop computer as a backup.
In case that you need internet /special software for your presentation or if you have videos included into your file, please notify the conference secretariat in advance.
The abstract (incl. figures) should be typed single-spaced (12 pt Arial font, 2.5 cm margins, page size DIN A4) and should include the title, authors, their affiliations plus city and country.
Please upload your abstract as PDF file.
Each lecture is planned for a duration of 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. Strict timekeeping will be essential for the smooth running of the conference. We suggest to use a minimum font size of 24 pt for your presentation slides.
As a major guideline it is proposed to make the poster intelligible in itself, even in the absence of the author. It is suggested to divide the content of each poster into introduction, results and conclusion, with a summary listing the pertinent results and conclusion.
The poster should be legible from a distance of 2-3 meters. Standard size for posters is 0.85 x 1.2 m (DIN A0 German Standard) vertically oriented. Therefore, please find the following specifications:
The posters will be shown throughout the whole conference. Please hang up your poster at the beginning of the meeting on 5 September 2023.
