Enormous demands on modern processes require a radical rethinking in the design and operation of reactors for biotechnology, pharmacy and chemistry. The reactors of the future must be “SMART”: Sustainable, Multipurpose, Artificial Intelligent, Resilient and Transferable.
In our two virtual talks, we showcase different approaches to design and operate smart reactors both in the laboratory and the industrial environment. Topics range from from additive manufacturing of cellular structures as catalyst supports and self-optimising reactors in an R&D environment to the industrial challenges for smart reactors and the question what a “digital twin” means in bioprocessing.
