New Bioprocesses, New Bioproducts is the topic for the next Himmelfahrtstagung, the most important meeting for bioprocess and biochemical engineers in Germany. Submit your paper now and join experts from industry, universities and research organisations in discussing the latest scientific findings in bioprocess development.
At the Himmelfahrtstagung 2020, we would like to take a look at the entire value chain of bioproduction, from innovative strain development methods to new prokaryotic and eukaryotic production strains, smart reactor concepts, and innovative downstream processing. We will discuss bioproduction processes for biopharmaceuticals and industrial biotech products.

17 May 2020 - 2:00 p.m. - Atrium-Hotel, Mainz
In the context of the "Himmelfahrtstagung 2020” a pre-conference workshop for PhD students will be organised on 17 May 2020, starting time: 2:00 p.m., Duration: approx. 3 h
Register now for the workshop!
Please note: booking is only possible in combination with a registration for the conference
The ultimate goal of metabolic and biochemical engineering is to create novel products and bioprocesses for commercialisation. Whereas scientific and technical aspects are typical matters of training programs in universities, the sensitive steps of launching a product, which includes transferring technology from labs to production sites, are rarely addressed.
The workshop deals with this scenario by treating antibiotics production as show case. Students will learn what the key questions are and how actions should be structured to make the novel product a success. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis

Young scientists who have made industrially profound contributions to biochemical engineering during their PhD thesis are invited to apply for the DECHEMA Industrial Bioprocess Award. The award that is offered for the second time comes with €5,000 prize money and is being sponsored by the industrial members of the DECHEMA working party “Biochemical Engineering“.
This group focuses on the biotechnical production of fine and bulk chemicals as well as biopharmaceuticals by means of enzymes, prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells. The topics comprise the whole spectrum of modern biochemical engineering:
Young scientists who have finished their thesis between December 2018 and November 2019 are invited to submit their application online. Deadline for the submission of applications is 15 January 2020. The successful candidates will be awarded with the prize at the “Himmelfahrtstagung 2020” and are invited to give a presentation there.
Information on selection criteria and documents to be submitted is available here.
The exhibition, integrated in the conference, offers a unique opportunity to promote your technologies products and services in the field of industrial biotechnology.
In the past years, the conference had over 200 participants from academia and industry. In 2020 we expect at least the same number. So, there is a great opportunity to strengthen your network as you build upon existing and generate new relationships.
