The Max Buchner Research Foundation awards travel grants for the presentation of scientific and technical research work at scientific forums, congresses, symposia, conferences and other specialist events in the fields of chemical engineering, process engineering, biotechnology and related research areas, especially if DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V. is involved in the scientific organisation of the event.
The scholarships are intended to enable young scientists to participate in relevant events. In addition, the exchange with the community as well as the presentation of current, own research work should be promoted.
Researchers at universities and non-university research institutions are eligible to apply up to eight years after completing their doctorate.

Applications are assessed and approved on a quarterly basis.
The following deadlines apply for submission:
- 15 March of the year
- 15 June of the year
- 15 September of the year
- 10 December of the year
Until June 2023 one-year research projects were supported by the Max Buchner Research Foundation. Reports of work in the completed projects (from 2005) can be found here.
